FILM CLUB: The film at this month’s Film Club which meets tonight (Friday 16) will be Evita. Only Film Club members will be able to attend - for details on how to join please contact Hilary on 230205.

DOCTOR’S SURGERIES: There is one more surgery in October on Tuesday 27, from 11.30 am, this is for pre-booked appointments only.

AMICUS HORIZON MEETING: Don’t forget the meeting at the Memorial hall on Wednesday October 21 from 3.30 until 6.30 at which Amicus Horizon will be unveiling their new plans for the redevelopment of The Maltings including the demolition of 6 bungalows. It’s important that Peasmarsh residents attend this meeting so that local opinions are heard.

ATTIC AND COLLECTORS’ FAIR: This month’s Fair will be held on October 18, from 10am until 3pm, entrance is free, all welcome.

HALL OF CRAFTS: This will take place over the weekend of 24 - 25 October at the hall, doors open at 10.30am.

THE BARLEYCORNS: The Barleycorns are a small group of children of primary school age from Peasmarsh and Beckley who meet up once a week to practice some hymns and learn how to ring handbells for the Family Services held in our churches monthly. If there are any children interested in joining The Barleycorns and would like more information please contact Jenny Als on 230324.

HARVEST FESTIVAL: Parishioners from Beckley and Peasmarsh gathered in All Saints church last Sunday for their Harvest Festival. The church was already full of produce and all manner of tins and packets and jars of food donated at the Beckley school service earlier in the week. These will be taken to the Seaview Centre in Hastings. The service was well attended with enthusiastic singing of favourite seasonal hymns. This was followed by an excellent Harvest Lunch of hot lasagne with salad, followed by apple pie and custard, and washed down with cider or apple juice. The dining tables were beautifully decorated in bright autumn colours and all agreed that it was a really happy festive occasion. Thanks go to all those from both villages who helped to make it such a success, whether they were wearing aprons or sitting at the tables.

CHURCH CONCERT: On Saturday. October 24 there will be a special concert in All Saints Church. The Wealden Consort, and their organist/conductor. Cornelis Taekema, will be performing a programme of sacred and secular music to celebrate the renovation of the Bevington organ in the church which was built some time between 1870 and 1890. In 2014 The Consort reached the final of the “Kent’s Top Choir” competition, and they perform at charity fund raising events widely throughout Kent and Sussex. Cornelis Taekema is an accomplished and experienced organist who will be demonstrating the range of the newly renovated organ.The concert commences at 7.30pm. Tickets at £8.00 (to include a glass of wine or soft drink) will be available at the door, or can be purchased in advance from Diane Marsh (260596) or Jennifer Als (230324)

CHURCH SERVICES: This Sunday there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at Peasmarsh church at 10am. The Remembrance Service at Peasmarsh this year will be on Sunday November 8 at 9.45am.
