Peasmarsh

BARBARA POINTER :Many of us were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of Barbara Pointer. All the dog owners and dog lovers in Peasmarsh who encountered Barbara, and her mantra “Dogs in Training? Train Owners!” benefited from her firm but effective teaching. A number of the enthusiasts who worked with her agility groups enjoyed the excitement of competing at Crufts where she also acted as a judge. However, many may not be aware of her other generous contributions to village life since she arrived here about 30 years ago. She was one of the first Secretaries of the Friends of Peasmarsh Parish Church, also providing mouth-watering puddings for fund-raising events. For some years she was the Treasurer of the Parochial Church Council. She was also one of the Leaders of ASPPYC (All Saints & St Peter & St Paul Youth Club) which flourished in the late 80s. The “Second” bell in the church was donated by Barbara and Alan in memory of Rebecca, their first daughter, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 6. Our deepest sympathies go to Rosie. Barbara’s funeral will take place at 1.30pm on Tuesday June 9 at Peasmarsh Church.
