CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: I can’t believe that it’s December already! Christmas lights and decorations have started to appear round the village, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s displays brightening up the dark evenings.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: The Peasmarsh Christmas Fair is tomorrow (Saturday December 6) at the hall 10am until 1pm. There will be a Santa’s Grotto, stalls, cakes and mince pies, Peasmarsh School will be running a Children’s Tombola and there will be a Christmas Raffle including prizes from Rye Retreat Tuscan Kitchen and Flackley Ash. Please come along and join in the fun and get Christmas started with mulled wine and mince pies!

CHRISTMAS LUNCH: There will be a special Christmas Lunch at the hall on Monday December 15, please book early to make sure of a place. This will cost £12.50, £5 of which should be paid as a deposit on booking. The menu can be viewed on the hall website www.peasmarshmh.org,uk , on the hall’s Facebook page or on the village notice boards.Tickets are available from Jenny Als or at public events at the hall.

PEASMARSH CHRISTMAS SANTA: Not long now until the big day, If you would like your child or children to receive a door knock and gift from Santa and his elves this year please wrap a small present with your child’s name on and deliver it to Kelly Cosens at 14 The Old Hop Gardens with a £5.00 donation per family. All money raised will be going to three very deserving charities.

CAROL SINGING: The Peasmarsh ‘Singing for Fun’ group will be singing Christmas Carols outside Jempson’s in aid of The Blue Cross at Northiam on December 17 from 2pm until 3pm - please go along and give them your support.

LUNCH CLUB: The next Lunch Club will be on January 5 2015.

PEASMARSH QUIZ: The first Quiz of 2015 will take place on January 10, 7.30pm. Put the date in your (new) diaries now!

CHURCH NEWS AND SERVICES: Thank you to all the children who brought toys for the Toy Service last Sunday at Peasmarsh church. We lit the first Advent Candle and then the Barleycorns rang hand bells and sang for us. Fr. Bill told one of his stories and we had some Hymns and Prayers. After the Service the children made Christmas cards while their parents chatted over a coffee.

There will be a W.I. Carol Service at Beckley church tonight (Friday 5 December) at 6pm. There will be a service of Holy Eucharist at Peasmarsh church this Sunday December 7 at 10am.

The Marsh Warblers will be performing in Peasmarsh Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 13. In a programme called “Going the Rounds” they will perform Gallery Carols and Readings from Thomas Hardy’s “Under the Greenwood Tree”. The Marsh Warblers choir is based near Tenterden and sings sacred and secular music which amateur singers and instrumentalists performed in the Georgian period ca.1720-1850). The choirs of country churches and chapels usually sang from a gallery at the west end of the building and the singing was accompanied by stringed and wind instruments. These included oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin and ‘cello, and possibly even a serpent. Tickets (£7 including refreshments) are available in advance from Audrey Dent 230050 or Jenny Als 230324 or on the door. On Sunday December 14 there will be a Christingle service at Beckley church at 4pm.
