CHURCH SERVICES : This Sunday November 23 both the 8am and 10am services will be at Beckley church.

The Toy Service at 10am on Sunday, November 30 will be at Peasmarsh Church this year. This is a short Family Service at which the “Barleycorns” will sing and ring their handbells. After the service there will be special pre-Christmas activities for the children, and coffee and biscuits and soft drinks. Toys donated by the children will go to Demelza House, the local charity supporting children across East Sussex, Kent and South East London. The Marsh Warblers will be performing in Peasmarsh Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 13. In a programme called “Going the Rounds” they will perform Gallery Carols and Readings from Thomas Hardy’s “Under the Greenwood Tree”. The Marsh Warblers choir is based near Tenterden and sings sacred and secular music which amateur singers and instrumentalists performed in the Georgian period (ca.1720-1850). The choirs of country churches and chapels usually sang from a gallery at the west end of the building and the singing was accompanied by stringed and wind instruments. These included oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin and ‘cello, and possibly even a serpent. Tickets (£7 including refreshments) are available in advance from Audrey Dent 230050 or Jenny Als 230324 or on the door.
