Peasmarsh

In addition to the Memorial hall website http://peasmarshmh.org.uk/ we now have a Facebook page! If any of you are on Facebook please look up and ‘like’ our page, I will be updating it regularly and hope to add photographs of some of the events held there. Thank you.

We have a lot going on in the village this month, starting with tonight (Friday) the concert at the Memorial hall by the Peasmarsh and District WI Choir at 7.30pm. Entrance is £7 at the door which includes refreshments; the concert is to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Then on Saturday May 10 there will be a Quiz Night, as usual entrance will be £5.50 per person which includes a Ploughman’s supper, bring your own drinks (these can be helpful when answering questions!) 7.30pm. This will be the last Quiz until September.

The next meeting of the Peasmarsh Recreation Ground sub-committee will take place at 6pm on Thursday May 15 at the pavilion - new younger members would be very welcome to come along and bring some fresh ideas to the meeting (older ones are welcome too!)

The Lunch Club will be held on May 12 and 19 but not on May 26 as it is a Bank Holiday.

As I expect you are all aware the European Elections take place on Thursday May 22 at the hall; open from 7am until 10pm.

The third Rye 10 Road Race will be on May 25, starting from the entrance to Jempson’s car park at 10am. Tanhouse Lane from Jempson’s car park to the junction of School Lane will be closed from 9.45 until 10.15. Anyone who can spare some time to help on the day please contact Martin or Cathy Burke on 230 009 or David or Hilary on 230 205 - people are needed to act as marshalls and man water stations so please help this valuable fund raiser if you can!

Another great annual event takes place this month too - the Flower Festival at Peasmarsh church. This will run over the Bank Holiday weekend, starting on Saturday May 24 at 10am and will finish on bank Holiday Monday at 5pm.

The Festival will be open 10am - 5pm each day, with a family service at the church at 10am on the Sunday followed by Morris Dancing in the churchyard - always worth a visit!

As usual there will be refreshments and a plant stall; offers of help with these would be appreciated - please contact Jenny Als 230 324 regarding the plant stall and Audrey Dent 230 050 about the refreshments. Thank you.

Both the 8am and 10am services will be at Beckley church this Sunday.
