I hope everyone in Peasmarsh had a good Easter break despite the occasional snow flurry! Roll on Spring.

What a wonderful response to the Easter Lilies message! 150 lilies in the church in memory of Peasmarsh people. Thanks to Sue and Deirdre for organising, and to Vanda for arranging them. As there was no 10 o’clock service in our church on Easter Sunday (but lots of Peasmarshians at the family service at Beckley) Father Bill will be reading out the list of names again at the 10 o’clock service next Sunday, April 7. Why not come and sing those lovely Easter hymns. The organ is working again! It is not quite up to full strength, but it is sounding good. The church has been spring-cleaned by a group of hard-working volunteers and the daffodils are out, despite the cold.

If anyone is interested in joining the flower arrangers’ rota, helping with the flower festival in May, or getting involved with keeping the church looking clean and tidy in any other way, Deirdre is planning a meeting later in the month – probably on Friday April 19, but watch this space for confirmation and further details.

The closing date for completing and returning application forms for the diocesan electoral roll has been extended for another 3 weeks. There are forms in both churches if you would like one.

An appeal to those who enjoy using the goalposts on the Recreation Ground: Please keep them away from the homes and gardens on the Old Hop Gardens side of the field. They are becoming a nuisance to those who live there.

Tickets for the Concert and Candlelit Dinner in the church on May 6 are now available from Robin Thompson at Stream Farmhouse, Main Street. (230356) The wonderful Celan Quartet who played for us last year are coming back and bringing with them Joel Sandelson who was the string finalist (‘cello) in last year’s BBC Young Musician of the Year. Brochures for this and for this year’s Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival (June 20 – 23) are available in the church, from Rye Tourist Information Centre or from Jennifer Als (230324)

Further complaints are still coming in about anti-social dumping of dog poo bags, or people failing to clear up after their dogs. There has also been some particularly offensive fly-tipping in the churchyard. Please keep your eyes open and report to Rother District Council anyone you see behaving in this objectionable way.

Burglars are still targeting Peasmarsh. Please report anything unusual to the police immediately on 101 or crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The Rye and District Association of the National Trust will be having their next walk on Tuesday April 9. This month’s walk is centred on Rolvenden Church starting at 10.30 am. 5 miles in the morning to the Ewe and Lamb, Rolvenden Layne and a further 2.5 miles after lunch. As already mentioned above, there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at Peasmarsh church this Sunday at 10am and Evensong at 3pm.
