The annual Flower Festival at our sister church of All Saints’ Beckley will be taking place this weekend.

The church will be open from 10am to 5.30pm on Friday, September 21 and Saturday 22, and on Sunday 23 there will be a Family Service at 10.am in addition to the usual weekly celebration of Holy Communion at 8am and then the church will be open for the rest of the day. Well worth a visit!

Another big thank you from the churchwardens to all those who attended the second working day in the churchyard last Sunday – especially those who came for the second time. It is amazing the difference just two visits have made, and visitors and passers-by are commenting on the improvement. There are plans for a third effort towards the end of October.

For those who visit graves and attend to flowers at the church, please do not leave any waste beside the stable. This area has been cleared several times. The piece of land just beyond the lime trees which everyone seems to regard as a compost heap does not even belong to the church and there is no waste collection from the churchyard.

Burnable rubbish can be left at the bonfire in the far north-eastern corner. It is long-suffering members of the congregation and other friends who pick up all the plastic and other non-burnables and take them home to put them in their own wheely-bins.

Cranbrook Town Band is coming to Peasmarsh! This excellent brass band will be playing at the church on October 11 from 8pm. There will be refreshments available beforehand. Ticket details and contact points next week.

Youth in Motion is hoping to get their project for Peasmarsh off the ground shortly – probably in mid-October. Watch out for further information.

It will soon be “all change” in the village as the Memorial Hall closes down for refurbishment. Please note that the pavilion at the Maltings is available for hire for private rental if you wish to hold an event there. Contact Jackie Brookes, the hall caretaker in the usual way.

This Sunday the service at Peasmarsh church will be Holy Eucharist at 3.30pm.
