Peasmarsh village voice

Thank you to the few residents who turned up for the Memorial Hall AGM on Monday evening, it was nice to be able to share our exciting news about the Lottery Grant with them.

We have finally been successful in our application - more news next week!

This Sunday August 19, there will be (weather permitting!) a group of volunteers from the village spending an afternoon working in the churchyard, starting at around 2pm. If volunteers can come with whatever tools they have - strimmers, clippers, shears etc., the work will concentrate on the area in the front of the church, particularly around the war memorial. If you would like to be involved but cannot undertake heavy gardening perhaps you would like to help with serving refreshments to the workers please ring Jenny Als on 230324, thank you. Father Bill Dolman will be taking a service of Evensong at 3.30pm at which he will be remembering those buried in the churchyard, all welcome.

Thanks to Joyce for the following - On August 11 Peasmarsh bowls team held their Hundred up competition. We all had a lovely day, the weather was good to us. Thank you to all our friends and visitors who made it enjoyable; to Wendy who organised the sausage beans and mash, and those who made all the lovely puddings. The winners of the David Cox Cup were Janet Cox and Ron Burchett, runners up Derek Piggott and Derrick Cleaves; congratulations to all of you.

As previously mentioned, there will be a service of Evensong at Peasmarsh church at 3.30pm on Sunday, the 8am service will be at Beckley, and at 10am there will be a Scout Troop service at Peasmarsh.
