A big thank you to all those who have put up flags and bunting – let’s see some more in Main Street if at all possible.

Don’t forget the family tea party, at the Horse and Cart Pub on Monday afternoon, in support of the Memorial Hall and The Oliver Curd Trust.

Well it was certainly a glorious day for the first Rye Run last Sunday; I hope to bring you a full report soon!

Last weekend our lovely Church was a cool peaceful haven decorated with a variety of beautiful flower and foliage arrangements. In addition to members of the congregation and Peasmarsh residents those who brought flowers and arranged them included the Primary Schoolchildren, the local Guides and Brownies, the Flying Start Pre-School and friends and helpers from Beckley. The plant stall was popular with visitors and many enjoyed tea and cakes on the “lawn”. Over £1000 was raised for church funds.

Most of the arrangements will still be in place next weekend when there will be a special (short !) service to celebrate our Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at 10am. Why not come along ? Afterwards the Morris Dancers will pay their annual visit to the Church and there will be coffee and cakes.

From June 14th – 17th the church will be hosting the first Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival, the successor to the Florestan Festival. This promises an exciting 4-day feast of music. Tickets are still available for most concerts. There are brochures with ticket application forms in the church or you can call the box office on 01797 253178.

I received the following from Peasmarsh FC (Sunday) - With the 2011/12 season not being as successful as hoped and the uncertainty of the continuation of the Sunday League, it has been decided at the Peasmarsh FC A.G.M. (which showed a lack of players and support) that the club will be suspended for a period of one season with immediate effect. It is sad to see a club that has enjoyed many seasons of Sunday football to potentially end this way.

On a sad note - I found a very sick fluffy black cat late Saturday evening when I was walking my dog; I took it home but I’m afraid it died. If anyone has lost a black cat - it seemed quite young - my husband did take a photograph of it to maybe help with identification. It is now buried in our garden. Please let me know if you’ve lost a cat and would like to see the photograph.
