Pebsham pupils prepare to celebrate school's birthday

PUPILS and staff at Pebsham Community Primary School have spent the Christmas holiday preparing for a special event.

The school is about to celebrate its 30th birthday and the first of a series of planned events with be a tea party for the pupils tomorrow.

Head teacher Pat Strickson said: "The pupils have been getting prepared by doing a 70's project with their parents over the Christmas break and we're going to have an exhibition and open afternoon on January 18 from 2.30 for everyone to come and have a look and revisit the 70s!

"The tea party will take place on the 11th. The pupils are dressing in 'Seventies clothes if they wish and will have a disco before the jelly, ice cream etc which will begin about 2.30.

"We've also added another date due to popular demand....a 'Seventies disco for past staff, pupils of the 70's and 80's, our present parents, governors and staff which will be held in the school hall on Saturday, January 19 from 7.30-10.30pm."

The 'Seventies disco is will be ticket-only event, tickets being available from Sarah at the school office at 70p each or a donation to the school.

Mrs Strickson said: "There will be a 'Seventies theme throughout the whole evening and the school will be open for visits for anyone who wishes for a walk down memory lane."
