Pedestrian dies following A27 collision near Arundel

A CRASH in the early hours of this morning (October 27) has claimed the life of an East Grinstead man.

The 52-year-old died after being struck by a blue Rover car on the A27, Arundel Road, in Crossbush.

Emergency services responded to calls at 1.30am about the incident on the westbound carriageway.

The pedestrian, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man from East Sussex, was treated for shock.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man walking along the A27 in the Crossbush area, or a Rover 75 prior to the collision, to contact them on 101 and quote Operation Parham.

The westbound carriageway was closed for about four hours while the scene was examined.
