Dylan Humphreys, aged ten, began running around the Ardingly Showground on January 17.

And with the help of his mum, Clare Humphreys, 38, he set up a Facebook donation page in support of NHS Charities Together.

Every day since then, Dylan has run 2.5km after completing his schoolwork – come rain or shine.

All the proceeds raised from his runs have been donated to the NHS Charities Together fund – a charity that was supported by the late Sir Captain Tom Moore.

Supported by his football club, the Lindfield FC Juniors, St. Peter’s C.E Primary School and members of the local community, Dylan reached his fundraising target of £2,000 and running distance of 100km last week.

He said he hopes to inspire other children to get outside and run.

“I’ve challenged my football friends to run every day for a week wearing crazy wigs, party hats or dressing gowns! It has been a lot of fun!”

His mother, Clare, added: “Dylan chose to support NHS Charities Together after seeing the incredible hard work the NHS has been doing throughout the pandemic. We are really proud of what he has achieved and hope that it has inspired others.”

In response to everyone who chose to support the young footballer’s fundraiser since it started, Dylan said: “Well done, and thank you, you are the real heroes.”
