Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust – located in the peaceful countryside of Twineham, West Sussex – works tirelessly to find loving homes for greyhounds once their racing days are over.
Despite being one of the gentlest and most adaptable breeds, greyhounds are often overlooked as pets.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “Many people mistakenly believe that, because of their history as racers, greyhounds require constant exercise and high-energy lifestyles. In truth, they are known as ‘40mph couch potatoes’ – while they enjoy a quick sprint, they are just as happy to spend hours lounging peacefully at home.
"Greyhounds make amazing pets because of their calm, affectionate, and easy-going nature.
"Their low-maintenance needs make them a perfect match for a variety of homes, whether you have young children or live in a smaller space.
"A couple of short walks each day is all they need, and their quiet, laid-back temperament makes them ideal companions for those looking for a relaxed, loving dog.
"Greyhounds also make brilliant traveling companions due to their calm demeanour and ability to settle comfortably in new environments.”

1. Ariana - five-year-old female
Ariana is a shy girl, but can be 'very cheeky' once she gets to know you! The charity says she is a pretty girl and such a sweetheart. She will require an adult only, quiet home and will need a patient family who can visit her a few times so she gets to know them. Photo: Brighton Retired Greyhounds
2. Podge - four-year-old male
Podge is a gorgeous boy who is very friendly. He has an overshot jaw which leaves him with a lovely smile, the charity said. He can be nosy and is full of character! Photo: x
3. Otis - three-year-old male
Otis is a sweet boy who can initially be quite shy. He retired from racing due to a broken hock which has since been repaired. He would benefit from a quieter household with no young children and a family who can take him on short walks. He isn't keen on men but is 'cheeky with the ladies', according to the charity. Photo: x

Candy is a stunning girl who is shy at first but cheeky once she gets to know you. She would benefit from a quiet home with a family who can give her time and space to adapt to retired life. Photo: x
