Airshow is set to be one of biggest yet

Don Bean, Shoreham Airshow organiser, announced this week: “We have booked aircraft that will take the flying into almost six hours of non-stop entertainment. The Royal Air Force will be sending their Hawk solo display flown by Flt Lt Juliette Fleming, the force’s first female solo display pilot. She will be joined by the Tucano and Tutor solo displays as well as an array of classic jets including the Hawker Hunter, Folland Gnat and De Havilland Vampire. We are also hopeful of having the Red Arrows fly through during the show which takes place on August 20 and 21.”

John Periam, the show’s press officer said: “We don’t rest on our laurels and if we can see a way of adding different aircraft we will. We booked the Vulcan early this year and subject to the Vulcan to the Sky Trust’s finances it will be at Shoreham both days. There will also be the cream of the military parachute teams with the Parachute Regiment Red Devils and the RAF Falcons jumping which is always popular with the spectators.”

Adding some colour to the flying display will be an array of top civilian display teams. There will be a four-ship from the Breitling Wingwalkers, the four Extra 300LPs from The Blades and the Yakovlevs flying their Russian aerobatic aircraft in close formation. The Glider FX Team will be there as will the SWIP Team both of which will perform some very spectacular flying. Justyn Gorman will be putting his Extra aircraft through some stunning gyroscopic aerobatics too and has been training hard over the winter to present something a little different.
