It was at its closest point to Earth while in its ‘full’ phase – and a supermoon – in the early hours of Tuesday morning (April 27), about 4.31am.
To the eye, it appeared full from Monday evening (April 26).
The full moon is known as the pink moon and said to be named after phlox which flowers in spring.
