The group has launched a project called SEALIFE with the aim of transforming the tatty brick tunnel entrance with a sea themed mural.

A crowd funding page was launched this week to raise the £2,500 needed to make the project happen.

Carol Cook, from W.Ave Arts, said: “This project has been in the making for over a year. Unfortunately funding has taken a hit, but we are committed to making this project happen with the help of the community.

“We will have a team of volunteers from Sustrans, Bexhill Wheelers and Bexhill Environmental group that will prep and paint the wall and plant more beautiful flowers in this area.

“We are also giving the opportunity for a young aspiring artist Joseph Zillwood, who is 17 years of age, to shadow and assist Luke Brabants. Joseph will gain valued experience and knowledge so that he can extend his own skills. Joseph Zillwood approached us, on an earlier project last year and wanted to know more about what we were doing. He thought it was amazing that Luke was working on such a large scale with spray paints. This kind of interest really hit us and we want to inspire others like Joseph.

“We would like to thank our current sponsors: Brewers in Bexhill, for supplying all the material to prep the wall, and Elite OS Scaffolding: who will be supplying the scaffolding.
