The inaugural event on March 7 was organised by Planet Barcombe, a new environmental group hoping to reduce negative impacts on the environment as part of the Central Sussex Climate Network.

Many village residents also helped to organise the event.

Local produce and vegan food was available for visitors of all ages to enjoy while they attended talks and demonstrations.

Children made bug hotels and seed bombs and speakers gave talks and advice about caring for local wildlife.

Emma Burnett, who helped to organise the event, said: “Planet Barcombe is designed to support positive initiatives around Barcombe, to connect people and inspire us all to do lots more to help our planet.

“The Eco Fair was a fabulous success and the village hall was exceptionally busy and buzzy.

People came with a warm heart and wanted to positively engage with all that was going on.

“In all the doom and gloom that can surround this subject there was real interest in all the things large and small that the individual person can do.

“A lot of people think that going eco is all about misery and deprivation but this really showed what a positive experience it can be in so many ways.”

Initiatives from the surrounding area such as Chailey Repair Cafe, Barcombe Garden Club, Lewes Cycle Shack and baby clothes recycling scheme Super Looper also attended the event.
