Battle gives colourful scarecrow salute to Hastings and Rother NHS workers
But that did not stop the organisers from holding a virtual scarecrow festival with a rainbow theme to acknowledge the work of the NHS during the crisis.
People were asked to create a colourful scarecrow, take a photograph and share it on the Festival Facebook page.

“We encouraged people to put their Rainbow Scarecrow in their front garden or on a balcony or in their front window to help put a smile on faces.
“The competition was extremely stiff, but we came up with five winners out of the 35 entered.
“There was some incredible imagination, and emotion which shone through, and in the selection the judges felt that children’s efforts should be rewarded too.
