Battle police seek puppy killer

THE RSPCA is appealing for information after two puppies were killed in a sickening attack in a country lane.

The dogs, thought to be about five or six months old, were discovered on the grass verge in Ellenwhorne Lane, Cripps Corner, by a passing member of the public.

The RSPCA believe a severe blow to their heads caused their deaths – the force of which was so great that it damaged the skull and caused an eyeball to pop out.

Both dogs, thought to be Jack Russell terriers, were female.

One was black and tan in colour while the other was tan with a black tail.

A single red collar and lead was found discarded nearby.

Police have been investigating the case since the bodies were discovered on Wednesday August 18.

But they have not yet caught those responsible and are now asking for help from the public.

Neither dog had been micro-chipped and the owners of the dogs have not been traced.

RSPCA Inspector Dave Grant, who was called to collect the bodies in August, said: “The way they were killed was incredibly violent. There must have been so much force behind those blows.

“They were lovely looking little dogs which had been well looked after and would have been easy to re-home.

“There just seems no reason why anyone should have wanted to kill them – it makes no sense to me at all.

“They were so young and would probably have made lovely pets – it is so sad.”

Anyone with any information should call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 quoting incident 149 of the 18/8.
