Worthing residents John and Jean Wells-Deamer, of Clifton Road, have praised Mandy, stating she “lives up to and beyond her title, carer”.

John added: “She has been a brick. From the start she has been very friendly, nearly always cheerful and makes light of bad things that are happening. She is an extraordinary character.”

Elsie Clow also nominated Mandy, writing: “She makes me smile and cheers my day up as I am unwell.

“I look forward to her coming as we laugh from the time she comes in until she leaves.”

The grandma-of-two used to be a chef and a car saleswoman before she became a carer after her grandma said she was a natural.

She said: “I absolutely love my job 100 per cent. If it was not for them I would not be able to do what I do.

“Some of them are really low and have some seriously bad things going on in their lives.

“When I come in I say get out of bed. I give them a really good gee-up.
