The Mayor welcomed the re-opening of businesses and shops in Little Common, Sidley and Bexhill this week by taking to the streets and greeting shoppers and business owners.

The Mayor was pleased to see so many establishments open and doing everything they can to make their shops and businesses as safe as possible for their customers.

Commenting on the situation, Cllr Langlands said: “It is not going to be an easy road ahead for them, but they have taken up the gauntlet and as a community we need to support them.

“On behalf of the people of Bexhill I would like to say a huge thank you to you all!”.

The Mayor reflected on the Sussex Charter, read by Past Mayor and committed Sussex Day supporter Paul Lendon, finding it extremely relevant to the situation we find ourselves in today.

‘Let it be known, the people of Sussex will undertake responsibility for the general wellbeing of our neighbours. Let it be known the people of Sussex shall be guardians of our wildlife. Let it be known the people of Sussex will, through custom support all local business’

The Mayor said: “These are thoughts to take away with us.”
