Fundraising manager Asha Park said: “Last year was an incredibly challenging year for us, but this year marks a special 50th anniversary for Brent Lodge. Despite the impact of coronavirus still ever-present in our lives we are determined to make 2021 a golden year to remember.

“We hope to acknowledge those who have helped us along the way and of course pay tribute to our founder, Dennis Fenter, who sadly passed away in 2019.”

The wildlife hospital is currently caring for over a hundred sick, injured or underweight hedgehogs as well as hundreds of other seasonal casualties to get them fit for release.

Asha said: “As we move towards the spring months we will be dealing with the influx of orphaned bird and mammal casualties, who will all require around the clock care.

“Sadly, the restrictions imposed by coronavirus means we are experiencing a drop in donations as our medical costs, animal care costs and food bills continue to rise.

“With so many mouths to feed it is important we continue to raise vital funds so that we can provide essential care to thousands of wildlife casualties.

“With this in mind, if you are able to donate chicken flavoured cat food, cleaning supplies or make a donation your support would make a huge difference.”
