Body found in water near Eastbourne

Police say they were called at around 11.20am after personal belongings were found at Cow Gap.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “A search of the area was carried out with the assistance of HM Coastguard.

“Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water by the RNLI a short while later.

“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and the coroner’s office has been informed.”
