Burgess Hill Radio presenters take on virtual marathon
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The Mid Sussex Marathon was due to be held on the bank holiday weekend at the end of May and Burgess Hill Radio usually commentates on the Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill legs of the marathon.
This year the race had to be cancelled in line with government guidance so presenters Julie Holden and Samantha Day along with Wendy White, wife of presenter James White, decided to take the challenge on themselves.

Samantha walked in Mid Sussex taking on three long walks including the Ardingly viaduct and Horsted Keynes and Julie upped her dog walks completing the distance in six days in the countryside that surrounds Burgess Hill.
“The beauty of the virtual marathon is that you can complete the distance in any way you wanted to, so if you wanted to walk it, run it, complete it in one go, or over several days this was all allowed providing you could prove your distance,” said Samantha. who presents the Breakfast Show on Monday and Tuesdays.
“For those who have been isolating and hadn’t left their home for weeks, the part or full distance over a number of days is a doable personal challenge.

Wendy said: “I’m a Burgess Hill runner and many of the usual races have been cancelled this year so this was a great opportunity to take on a challenge and collect the medals at the end.”
Entries for the marathon close on June 28, and the final date to complete is July 1, so there is still time to enter and get your hands on a set of medals if you complete the full distance or an individual medal if you complete a 10m, 10km or 5km distance.
