Burgess Hill youngster wins wild bird colouring competition

A young artist from Burgess Hill is celebrating being named the winner of a colouring competition hosted by a garden centre.

Lucy Bailey, six, won the wild bird colouring competition staged by South Downs Nurseries.

The Hassocks garden centre hosted the competition to mark National Nest Box Week.

Rebecca Houghton-Knapp, from the Brighton Road business, said: “We had an enormous response and it was hard to pick a winner.

“Her grandad, Colin Bailey (aged 72 and three quarters), from Hassocks completed an entry too, so it was only fair that he received a prize (cream tea for two) as well.”
