Maycroft Manor Care Home, on Carden Avenue, has already raised over £1,000 by putting on a weeks’ worth of fun-filled activities for residents to take part in.

Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions in East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire. From special days out to every day at home, Chestnut Tree House help children and their families make the most of every moment together.

During the special week, team members and residents at the home have been taking part in various superhero themed activities such as a super quiz, superhero movie time and the superhero Olympics. Superfoods, such as berries, nuts and broccoli were also included in the resident’s menu.

Relatives of residents at Maycroft Manor Care Home have also been sending in special messages for their loved ones, which have been put on a box of heroes and delivered to each resident by a team member dressed as a superhero.

Lisa Rose, customer relationship manager at the home, said: “When we heard that Chestnut Tree House in our local community needed help with fundraising, the heroes at Maycroft Manor jumped into action.

“We’ve been dressing up, sharing the love and staying connected to raise money. We wanted to give back to those who make such a difference each and every day and go above and beyond to provide help to others, and we have been bowled over by the generosity of our families, community and team.”

Grant Phillips, community fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House, said: “From everyone at Chestnut Tree House I would like to say a big thank you to all the team, residents and families at Maycroft Manor Care Home.

“You really have put your imaginations to the test and smashed your top-secret superhero mission.

“Without superheroes like you, we wouldn’t be able to provide hospice care for local children and their families. You make a difference. Thank you.”
