Charity help children with cerebral palsy in Haywards Heath using council grant

Conductive education is a movement based educational approach that helps the child to develop physically, socially and emotionally and to move towards as much independence as is possible for their age and ability.

Mike Pulfer, leader of Haywards Heath Town Council, said: “It is fantastic to see how our grants can help the community in Haywards Heath.

“The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity provides such vital work to those families with a child diagnosed with cerebral palsy and with other motor learning impairments.

“I am delighted that the Town Council can help them continue the work they do by way of these grants. “

Helen Bournat, business development manager for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support of Haywards Heath Town Council in helping us to continue to support these very vulnerable children, especially during this pandemic period. 

“Whilst we have been delivering online sessions since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, staff have now returned to the centre and we plan to reopen to families from mid-September for hands-on sessions. 

“However as many of our children have complex medical needs, it may be some time before all our families return to the centre, therefore we will continue to deliver both online and hands-on sessions for the foreseeable future.”
