Chichester Poppy Appeal launches to raise money for the Royal British Legion

Chichester’s 2020 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal was officially launched on Saturday (October 24) at 11am in North Street.

The mayor of Chichester, Richard Plowman, was presented with a poppy by Paul Gaffney, the Poppy Appeal organiser for Central Chichester.

The appeal has been scaled back due to the current Covid restrictions, with fewer cans and boxes distributed – but 80 sets have been placed around the city.

This includes the 2020 metal lapel pins, which can be obtained from Tesco Extra and Express, One-Stop and Co-op stores.

A pop-up stall is at Tesco Extra until October 29 and the ‘Under the Arches’ stall at the council offices, in North Street, will be open from 11am to 2.30pm from Sunday (November 1) to next Saturday (November 7).

Organisers said all Covid safety requirements will be applied.
