Horsham District Council says that the northern part of the play area alongside the Pavilions car park is to be completely renewed.

An adventure trail is to be built which will include a series of sprawling net play structures to take children on an adventure up to a large tree house on the top of the existing grass hill.

The new structures also include a large rope hammock and wind chimes which will enable children with limited mobility to play there.

The council says the improvements are being funded through contributions from local planning developments and are aimed at providing space for more children to play ‘in an imaginative and challenging way.’

Council cabinet member for leisure Jonathan Chowen said: “I am delighted that our plans for this new play area are coming to fruition and that work will very soon be underway.

“I’m particularly pleased that the new play area will also cater for children with more limited access to facilities and aims to provide some inclusive play features.

“The council is pleased to be supporting these much needed community projects as provision of high quality play equipment is one of its key priorities.”

The northern part of Horsham Park play prea including the existing zip wire will be out of action from early September to mid-October while the improvements are made.
