Ali Johnson, from Lewes, and Indi Wells from Eastbourne, have just returned from the Danish Kendama Open in Denmark with a third place under their belt. Kendama is a Japanese circus act that Sweet Circus have promoted for the last few years as a way to improve physical and mental health. Having supplied Kendama to Sweet Circus over the years, Krom Kendama invited the team to spend the weekend with them in Copenhagen during the competition. Ali and Indi were greeted by one of Krom’s professional players, Bonz Atron.

Bonz is three times Freestyle World Champion and World Cup winner.

Indy said: “It was such a surreal experience, when someone you have watched and admired for years introduces themselves as if you might not even know their name.

“The whole Krom Team including Rolf Ganer and Markus Lander spent time practicing, teaching and socialising with us and were so accommodating.”

On day two of the trip it was competition time and it was Ali’s turn to shine, being the first to qualify for the speed ladder and going on to finish in third place.

Ali said: “We’ve had such a fantastic time thanks to the Krom team, getting a place was just the icing on the cake.”

Both the boys walked away with Kendama prizes and freebies which will be put to good use over the coming months.
