“We’re taking each day at a time, the kids are doing OK, they’ll get whatever support they need.”

He added: “This is so lovely, it’s overwhelming that so many people care about her.”

Special messages were sent up in the scores of biodegradable balloons let off outside the school on Friday.

“She worked at Petworth Cottage Nursing Home, she was a carer, that’s who she was and she was proud to be a loving home-maker.

“Rach would have liked this celebration, she’d be shocked at how many people came to say goodbye.”

Gareth’s mum Kathleen Bridger added: “She loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone.

“She was such a lovely, beautiful girl.”
