The Sussex Express has teamed up with Lewes District Council to support this campaign.

Over the last week, many anxious shoppers have stocked up on food supplies.

The latest estimate is that Britain has about £1billion worth of food now lying in kitchens, cupboards, and spare bedrooms.

Thankfully, supermarkets have responded brilliantly and the shelves are re-stocking nicely. However, our local foodbanks are now in desperate need of your support.

They are running out of tins and packets at a frightening rate.

Please think about your extra supplies and consider donating a few of them.

Please show your support for them at this critical time.

Please support our campaign via your social media channels by using the hashtag #supportfoodbanks
