The MP said she has also intervened to save a local woman from bailiffs at her door demanding the payment of a £1,700 debt.

A 28-day freeze is now in place while the woman, who is happy to pay, finds the funds.

Mrs Ansell said, “It’s been a very busy week for myself and my staff and we’re very happy to have helped these people who were very distressed at the position they found themselves in.

“These problems have just been some of the more challenging of what has been the busiest week ever as people look for help and guidance on a wide range of subjects surrounding Coronavirus.

“My small team and I have dealt with several hundred emails and telephone calls this week from people very concerned about their health, their jobs, their businesses and keeping food on the table and a roof over their heads.

“This is like a wartime situation and my team and I stand ready to continue to help and explain what the government is doing to support and keep everyone safe during this emergency.”

Coronavirus, or COVID-19, is an illness which affects the lungs and airways. Symptoms are a high temperature and continuous cough.

To control the outbreak, the Government is now telling people to stay at home unless:

• Shopping for basic necessities

• For one form of exercise a day

• Any medical need or to help a vulnerable person,

• Travelling to and from work - ONLY when absolutely necessary
