Coronavirus: These bus services are still running in Lewes

Although Compass Travel have pulled a number of East and West Sussex routes, Lewes service 127, which serves Malling and Landport, and which is financially supported by Lewes Town Council, is continuing to run, although to a slightly changed timetable.

The Sunday service in the town, run by CTLA, and also financilly supported by the town council, is also continuing in service.

Compass Travel said it is doing everything it can to prevent the spread of Covid-19 within the bus depots and on the buses and coaches themselves.

It said it had increased its cleaning and changed its procedures to make sure it does everything reasonably possible to protect its employees and customers.

It added: “Current government guidelines still encourage people to use buses and other public transport to get around as they would do normally.

“However, we would ask customers to do their bit as well.

“Firstly, please make sure you follow the very simple government guidelines in hand washing and using hand sanitiser.

“Secondly, please consider using your credit/debit card or any other form of smart payment to pay for your fare on our buses – this will reduce the risk of germs transferring from money to yourselves and to our employees.

“We are unable to refund any unused travel tickets, as the government advice is that people can still use public transport services.”
