Martlets have tried to contact the winner but they are no longer at their registered address and there is no telephone number. The charity currently has over £20,000 in unclaimed or uncashed prizes and is reminding people to keep their details up-to-date so they can be contacted in the event of a Jackpot.

The draw was on August 28 and the winning ticket could pocket the top prize of £1,500.

Each week around 6,800 players take part in Martlets lottery which pays out 44 cash prizes and a top prize of £1,500 every Friday. The lottery is an important fundraiser for the charity which celebrates 20 years of Martlets Lottery this week, having raised millions of pounds for hospice care in the city of Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas since the first draw was held on September 29, 2000.

Sheila Green, Martlets Lottery Manager said: “Our Martlets Lottery is an essential part of our fundraising and our regular players provide vital support helping us to care for local patients with terminal illness and their loved ones. This is particularly important during the current pandemic which meant that our charity shops had to close and our fundraising events were cancelled, so our Lottery provided us with much needed income.

“Not only are our players helping us, the odds on our lottery are pretty good and we’re happy to be able to call our winners ever week with good news. Our prizes are paid out every week as we have no ‘rollovers’ which means a lot of people have won during the 20 years we have been going.”

Martlets Lottery player, Felicity Roskrow commented: “I was surprised and delighted to receive a Martlets Hospice Lottery win. As I have grown older I increasingly realise the important part a hospice plays in providing both expert support for those needing end of life care as well as reassurance for their family members. Martlets Hospice plays a wonderful role in our local community “
