Crews battle fire at property in Newhaven

A fire broke out at a property in Newhaven sparking an emergency response.

Three fire engines were sent to the property in Fullwood Avenue, Newhaven, on Sunday, February 16.

An East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 21.50pm on February 16, three appliances were sent to Fullwood Avenue, Newhaven, after a fire at a property was reported.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with two hose reels.”

Crews were called to a number of other incidents in the district that day.

At 11.40am, they were sent to Western Road, in Crowborough, where they made safe a road bollard, where the electrics were being affected by water. Crews covered and identified the bollard to enable highways to carry out the repairs.

At 12.07pm, firefighters were called to flooding at a property in Keld Drive, Uckfield, which damaged the roof. Crews covered the roof and isolated the electrics.

At 3.12pm, a crew were sent to a chimney fire in Meadow Place, Uckfield. And at 8pm, firefighters were mobilised to a property in Beacon Road, Crowborough, following reports of a building being flooded with 18 inches of rain water. A submersible pump was used to clear the water from the building.
