Crews tackle fire outside Worthing property

Crews were called to tackle a fire involving a garden shed in Worthing this afternoon (Thursday, October 29).

West Sussex Fire said two fire engines were sent to Wiston Avenue, Worthing, at 4.39pm.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “Joint Fire Control was alerted to reports of a fire involving a garden shed on Wiston Avenue in Worthing at 4.39pm this afternoon.

“Two fire engines from Worthing Fire Station were mobilised to the scene, and upon arrival firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using one hose reel.

“The fire caused between six and 10 square metres of damage and is believed to have been started accidentally. Fortunately there were no casualties as a result of this incident.”

The crews left the scene at 5.28pm.”

The road was partially blocked between Rectory Road and South Farm Road due to the incident, according to traffic reports.
