The group, which is a member of the Stroke Association, raises all of its own funds to run sessions every Wednesday.

Volunteers are currently raising funds for speech therapy sessions, relaxing music therapy, and exercise activities, all aimed at promoting wellbeing and encouraging participation within a friendly welcoming environment and encouraging members to be more confident and to try new things.

Carolyn Dodd, leader of Cuckfield Stroke Communication Group, said: "At a time when funds for groups such as ours, for stroke survivors with speech difficulties and low confidence issues, are becoming more difficult to access, we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in and around Cuckfield, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill.

"This is a great opportunity for us to offer an even more varied programme suited to individual members needs and hopefully we can encourage more stroke survivors to join our happy group."

When a Co-op member buys selected products or services from the Co-op they earn a 5% reward for themselves, with a further 1% for local causes like this.

Co-op members can choose a cause by going to their website, and to become a member, sign up in store or click here.
