Outline plans for five four bedroom, 14 three bedroom and 19 two bedroom dwellings on land north of Lee's Yard, Lidsey Road, (AL/21/20/OUT) were approved.

A reserved matters application for the appearance, layout, scale and landscaping of the site was refused by council officers (AL/141/21/RES) in April.

Now it has been resubmitted by Southern Home Ownership Ltd.

Thakeham, on behalf of the developer, said pre application advice had been sought and discussions held with Aldingbourne Parish Council.

"It is considered that the proposed development will provide high quality housing in a sustainable location," a planning statement said.

Proposals accord with policies and the principles agreed as part of the outline planning permission, which included unit numbers, mix and open space provision, it continued.

"The scheme delivers a range of housing tenures including 30 per cent affordable housing."

The decision report for the previous refusal said: “The layout and overall development is unacceptable in that it fails to ensure a decent standard of amenity for future residents (by reference to garden sizes and interfaces between dwellings), fails to properly integrate public open space and ensure the safety of these areas, fails to create a sense of place, fails to respect/enhance the character of the area and fails to provide for the needs of older/disabled occupants.”

Officers said there were no firm details regarding landscaping and air quality.
