Earlier Brighton and Hove City Council issued a warning on Twitter that the public should not sunbathe on the beach, swim in the sea or have picnics.

A council spokesman urged people to protect the NHS and save lives by staying at home.

Yesterday Brighton and Hove Police said it was ‘really great’ to see quiet beaches and seafronts across Sussex.
