East Preston youngsters ‘over the moon’ at royal appointment

EAST Preston has welcomed its own set of “royals”, just days before jubilee celebrations in the village are set to erupt.

Delighted Archie North, 11, and Lauren Boothby, 11, have been ushered in as this year’s East Preston festival’s prince and princess.

The regal duo, who are both pupils at The East Preston Junior School, were said to be “over the moon” when they were formerly appointed during a ceremony at the school on Tuesday.

The runners-up were 11-year-olds Matthew Davis and Chloe Pearce, who were both awarded special trophies donated by festival sponsor Jane Musgrave, of Jane Musgrave Estate Agents, in Sea Road.

Archie and Lauren, will both have their names engraved on the school’s festival cup and will be part of the royal contingent from East Preston and will be taking part in this year’s festival procession.

The duo will be waving from an open-top Audi, on Saturday, June 9, when the procession leaves from their school, in Vicarage Lane.

The carnival, which this year will have a jubilee and Olympic theme, will leave from the school at 1.15pm.
