Every year on the last Friday in September, the charity organises the famous World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Last year alone, it raised more than £27 million.

This year, Macmillan has relaunched the campaign as ‘Nothing Stops a Coffee Morning,’ and that is exactly the case at Sharnfold Farm on the Hailsham Road at Stone Cross.

Donna Bull from Sharnfold Farm said: “Cancer sadly touches almost everyone at some stage of their life, either through having the disease themselves or knowing family and friends affected.

“It is very important to us all at Sharnfold that we are able to do our bit to help such a wonderful charity and a wonderful cause.

“The Rule of 6 has made it very difficult for some groups to organise their coffee mornings this year, but we are going to do our very best and raise as much money as possible.”

Bearing in mind that only six people are allowed to gather together at one time, that is how Sharnfold will operate its Coffee Morning.

Donna is inviting groups of six maximum to book coffee, sandwiches and cakes at 9.30am; 2pm; and 3.30pm. A 12.30pm slot is already full booked.

9.30am

That’s a total of 30 people, six people at each of the five timings. Each person is asked to donate £10 for the food and drink.

Every penny will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Donna said: “We have invested heavily in a huge new cafe, five times the size it previously was, and we are really pleased with it.

“The cafe has been very busy over the summer months so we are pleased with our investment. Of course, there will be social distancing in place but we look forward to hearing from people who wish to support this.

“Ideally, it would be nice to have five group bookings of six people. But if people wish to come in pairs, or even on their own, that is not a problem. The priority is safety and helping Macmillan Cancer Support.

“We will also have a collection box in Sharnfold during the week so everyone can donate to Macmillan. Everyone accepts that we are living in difficult times but we want to adopt the slogan that Nothing Stops a Coffee Morning.”

Donna is hoping to raise £300 from ticket sales plus that will be topped up by donations.
