Trinity Church, previously known as Willingdon United Free Church, has stood in Coppice Avenue for more than 80 years but in that time the red-brick church has often gone unnoticed by visitors passing by, according to the church secretary Jennie Macfadyen.

Jennie said, “In order to rectify this, the church commissioned a wooden cross from Hope Woodwork in Eastbourne - part of the charity Kingdom Way Trust. Made from beautifully grained white ash, the cross was dedicated at a special, festive, socially distanced service outdoors.”

Many people attended the service including those involved with the project, friends representing the other East Team churches, parish councillors John and Frances Pritchett, plus the minister Reverend Memona Shahbaz, who formally dedicated the cross.

Jennie said, “Music was provided by the Plant family brass group and those present were delighted to be able to raise their voices in the singing of two carols.”
