Eastbourne driver arrested for possession of cannabis

Several vehicles were stopped in Eastbourne on the weekend (July 17-18) for offences including driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “Another busy and hot weekend for officers across Eastbourne conducting various vehicle safety checks under Operation Downsway; enforcing and educating driver around the ‘Fatal Five’.

”A number of offences detected including the driver of this vehicle found with no MOT and not in a roadworthy condition; the driver will soon hear from the Magistrates Court.

“Other results include dozens of vehicles that were checked along the seafront with two being stopped for showing no insurance and a further driver stopped for no MOT.”

Following patrols around the Seaside and Langney area, one vehicle was stopped for driving with no number plate while another was pulled over for having no insurance, according to police.

Police said a third driver was issued a traffic offence report for having no MOT.

The spokesperson said, “Further patrols in Cambridge Road, resulting in a Section 59, and the driver being arrested for possession of cannabis.”

An Eastbourne man was also arrested on the weekend following an alleged stabbing in Bexhill
