Mind, Samaritans, Shout, Hospice UK and the Royal Foundation have launched Our Frontline, a combination of one to one support and online resources for NHS workers, carers, the Blue Light emergency services and key workers who are putting their own mental health under pressure, while many people do their bit by staying at home.

A spokesperson at Eastbourne Samaritans said, “At a time when face to face contact is limited, Our Frontline, www.ourfrontline.org brings together a number of services to provide important workers with round the clock support. “Frontline staff and key workers can call or text a trained volunteer and access special online resources, toolkits and advice to support their mental health and emotional wellbeing during this challenging time. The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is formally supporting the initiative.”

Director of Eastbourne Samaritans Gill Mills said, “I am delighted we are able to work with some of the UK’s leading organisations to support our key workers and their mental health. Our trained volunteers are a listening ear for anyone, especially those who are dealing with traumatic situations, grief, death and loneliness. Nobody doing an essential job should feel that they have to go through this alone.

“I also want all our local callers to know that we are open for business as usual. Due to the coronavirus outbreak we are unable to offer our face to face service at Bolton Road but we can still be contacted free on 116 123 anytime of the day or night or by emailing [email protected]

“I am incredibly proud of our amazing volunteers who continue to do everything they can to be there day and night for people who are struggling.”
