The bird – a Pineapple Conure parrot called Ferris – went missing from Oldfield Road on November 1 at 4.30pm. The door latch failed to close properly, so he flew out of the front door when owner Jean Hatton opened it for delivery.

Jean said that he was last seen on November 4 near Butts Brow dew pond, then at the car park of St Wilfrid’s Hospice on Broadwater Way, before heading to Hampden Park.

Jean said he is five years old, and she re-homed him as he was previously abandoned or unwanted.

She said, “We have a separate bird room for the larger birds and an aviary, but as he is small he was with us in the lounge.

“We have had him about two months and he immediately got close to me, landing on me at every opportunity and calling for me when I left the room.

“I am devastated about Ferris, I’m upset he’s alone and lost and I feel so helpless.

“I can no longer give him the love and care he deserves and I don’t think you can put a price on that.”

Anyone who sees Ferris can contact Jean on Facebook or call her on 07792463090.
