Emergency incident at Fairlight, near Hastings

Emergency services and the coastguard helicopter have been called out to Fairlight this afternoon (Thursday, April 23).

A coastguard spokesman said HM Coastguard received a call from a member of the public just after 3.45pm with a report of an injured person at Fairlight Cove.

The spokesman said: “Coastguard rescue teams from Hastings and Bexhill have been sent, along with an air ambulance and the coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Lydd.

South East Coast Ambulance Service, Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are also at the scene.”

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police responded to a report of a man fallen off a cliff at Fairlight Cove, Hastings at 3.45pm on Thursday, April 23.

“Officers located the man and are supporting the coastguard with a rescue operation to transport the man to hospital for treatment.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“This incident is ongoing and no further details are available at present.”
