New Barn School at Rapkyns Care Village in Broadbridge Heath opened in January 2017 and was initially registered for 34 pupils but is now seeking planning approval from Horsham District Council for extra temporary classrooms.

The school, which currently has 62 pupils aged between seven and 19, is also seeking approval to increase the number of pupils to 80.

Architects Lytle Associates, who have been appointed by Treehouse Educare to prepare plans, say in a statement to planners: “The school has become a centre of excellence, with places in high demand.”

They are seeking planning permission for four temporary buildings - three classroom blocks and one staff room block - for a temporary period of three years. They also want to create an enlarged parking area, new play area and associated landscaping.

Lytle Assdociates say: “The proposals are required to provide additional teaching and staff space for the benefit of current pupils and staff.”
