His routes saw him pass through picturesque Sussex towns such as Seaford, Alfriston, East Dean, West Dean and Lewes.

Martin, 37, lives in Brighton and decided to take on the challenge to raise money and awareness of Dravet Syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy.

He said: "My daughter Paige was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome back in 2016 she is now five but has suffered seizures as long as two hours in the past.

"Raising awareness is just as important as raising money for Dravet Syndrome UK as not many people have heard of it so it is important to make people aware of this type of epilepsy."

The condition appears during the first year of life as frequent seizures and those with the syndrome need constant care.

Martin said highlights of the challenge include the laughs along the way which kept him going when his feet were burning and knees were hurting.

He added: "Also the view around Sussex are also amazing especially from the top of Firle beacon which is 217 metres high.

"I was lucky enough to be joined by friends and family each day to spur me the people that took part were - Fabian West, Jon Holmes, Daniel Crowley, Aaron Dawson and Patrick Adams."

Martin usually hosts a snooker charity event to raise money for the charity but had to have a rethink when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

"This year I wanted to lose weight and started walking three to four miles a day which then increased to seven to eight miles up to four times a week and between January and June I lost six stone in weight so thought why not tie in a charity fundraising event."

He added: "Each day became more difficult for myself as fatigue set in I think each day the biggest challenge was the last six miles.

"On the last day of the walk it was obviously the hardest but the most enjoyable as people were posting well wishes and donating to the just giving past which spurred us on to the end finishing at the castle snooker and sports bar in Brighton.

"I would just like to say a massive thank you too everyone who had donated, supported me and helped me though this 130-mile challenge."
