Football tournament in memory of Hastings man, 21, who died in collision, to be held

It is the second such event to be held, following a similar one last September, which raised almost £4,300 for charity in honour of Josh Alexander.
Josh, 21, and Jessica Poole, 18, were travelling in Woodchurch, near Ashford, Kent, on June 5, 2023.

Hide AdTheir white Vauxhall Corsa was in a collision with a white DAF truck in Plurenden Road at about 5pm, Kent Police said.
Josh, Josh, who worked at Tenterden Leisure Centre in Kent, was described as having the 'kindest soul' by his family.
He worked alongside the team at Active Hastings to deliver the Weight Management groups which his family said he was so passionate about.
This year’s tournament is taking place at Horntye Park Sports Complex on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm.

Hide AdJosh’s mum, Becky, said: “We have nine teams who will be competing for the Josh Alexander Cup, which was won last year by the TW Blue Boys.
“A raffle will be held with prizes donated from local businesses including Porters Financial Services, Tenterden Leisure Centre, Hinkley’s Funeral Services, The Hastleons, Frant Lakes, Shoe Shuffle and Alison Purdy Glass & Mirror Designs.
“There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, cake sale and DJ. DoItForJosh t-shirts and hoodies will be available to buy, which have been printed by Stitchwork’s of Hastings.
“All money raised will go directly to the #DoItForJosh charity, which has recently been set up in memory of Josh and to continue his legacy in supporting health, fitness, and wellbeing within our local community.

Hide Ad“We have raised a total of £4,281.78 from last year’s football tournament and running the Brighton marathon this year. This money was donated to the Active Hastings Weight Management programme which Josh was involved in.
“A further £512.96 was raised by Tenterden Leisure Centre at their Josh’s Big Fitness Weekend in June, which they have kindly donated to the charity.”
